Hi. I have just recently downloaded Octane.

Tried out the demo version earlier this week, and bought a licencse today.

Had no problems moving around in the viewport in the demo version, but now, I somehow cant move anything at all.

Any know reason this might happen?

looks like this, and I cant change the view at all :|

I now have the demo version and the 3.0 and the 3.2 from the forum downloads.

I can open all three versions of octane, but consistenly the only one I can move around in the viewport is the demo.

says " account is currently activated on this machine" so I dont think there should be any activation problems, or could there be?

Something I have neglected to do here?

After submiting my payment through paypal, I imidiately went to these sites and downloaded the program- could it be the serial
is not activated though it says everything is all good ?

I notice that the non-demo versions load ( you see the blue windows wheel spin for some time)when trying to open up an obj scene, while the demo does not.

Going to bed, and hope somehow tomorrow will be a better day :D

My guess that the scale of your imported scene is way off and the current camera settings don't work well with your scene scale.

As a first test, create a diffuse material node and select it. You should then see the material ball scene. Can you navigate in it? If yes, open one of the demo scenes. Can you navigate in it?

If yes, it must be your camera settings/scene scale that is causing problems. Do you use an exporter or just open the OBJ files?

What happens if you use the zoom picker to select the target position?

Cheers,
Marcus

You may have the screen lock on.That is the Pause button , next to the play button on the render viewport toolbar.(see the manual if you have a problem locating it).Try pressing the play button and then try moving around the scene.

Also it may be advisable to put you computer specs into your profile.(see mine) in case you have any other problems. It just helps in diagnosing any other issues you may have in future.

Im very grateful for the response and help. And I shall remember to put in my computer specs in my signature. I noticed the tip in the forum rules a little late yesterday.

I use the import waveform mesh obj node to import the test objects into the scene. And I also thought this could have something to do with scale. So among the first things I tried was to change the import settings, and cross checking the settings with the demo version that actually worked for me.

Lock button was a good tip, but not what was causing my problems.

I found out what it was today, after a good nights sleep.

After the install yesterday, I followed the installation guide, and took some time to look at the preference tabs before actually using the program. And I remember now that I noticed the viewport controll mappings. I think I must have toogled on some mapping settings that require you to push buttons in addition to using your mouse to ( like alt) navigate.

Tnx again for replies, it helps when you are low on energy, fustrated and tired, to get som input :)
