could it be done that the render be saved in the project folder or the needed folders be created in those cases
In the past, I asked if we could have a specific render folder in the preferences, in order to separate input files and output files... It would be really usefull, because if you don't set manually a path for each saved image, the project folder is poluted by tons of rendered images. It is tedious !
that would be useful
output for renders
obj for .obj files
tex for textures
?

other than the features request which this thread is not about :), i can report this version seems very stable in my setup and is more useful now (not using much of the nodes though)

Where is the problem, the most people uses the plugins to export, there you should choose the image output path, because it change for every project.
If you need an other texture, the path can be included in the Octane preferences...

The next release will be next week the earliest. It will be a test release again (i.e. not beta 2.5), but probably not beta 2.48 either ;)

Have a good weekend anyway,
Marcus

Thanks for the info Marcus,
so no need to check the forums every 5 mins ;)

Hmm, not 2.48 and not 2.50 but something in between - what could that be?
Have a good weekend.

In Blender exporters (for 2.49b and 2.5x as well), there is no path field for output image !

Maybe you can in Softimage and it's exporter, but for Blender users a folder for rendered images in Octane preferences would be the only solution (other than typing manually the path each time you save an image) !

I put all my renders in the same folder. It is easy to visually distinguish different projects for images, so no need to have separate folders for rendered images of each project, but One folder for every images is necessary.

Hm, i don´t know, but the image folder should normally changed, if you changed the project.
All for one is a little bit strange, maybe a thread for the blender forum...

Edit:
Have read the guidelines and there is a section where the image output is specified:
... the user instead has to configure the image output, eg a path and name for the animation's output PNG files ...
It´s only a example, but i would understand it so, that the user should can change the folder.
Also an exporter bug ;)

The only way to define the Output folder inside an exporter is to use the unsupported exporter for 2.5x, and rendering directly from inside Blender. At the end of the rendering (after the number of defined samples per pixel), the image is automatically imported into Blender Window and saved into the specified folder.

But this is not available when exporting obj and mtl to render in Octane, and I always shut down every software other than octane, to save RAM amount. When I load a 9 millions triangles scene in Octane, It is obvious that I can't leave the scene loaded in Blender as well !
