VERY BAD NEWS : You may have noticed that all linked images have disappeared.

The reason why is that my web host provider has some HDD failures and my website is down for already 3 days. It already occured for one day around 1 months ago, but my data were safe.

I have just looked at my FTP server, and this time all directories are empty !

I hope that they have my data saved somewhere else in a RAID, or a distant site, because I had around 10GB of data, images, videos and blend files on this server, and with my low upload bitrate, it would require several weeks of constant work to restore my site from my side!

As this site is my only showcase, I'm very worried formy business...

I cross my fingers...

Is there anyone here hosted at Canaca.com ? If yes, are you suffering of a same failure currently ? For how long ?

That's sad to hear. We hope you get your data back.

Cheers,
Marcus

Thanks Marcus,

As I just answered to Kubo, unfortunately I have had the confirmation that all hosted data have been lost and can't be recovered.

I am uploading already for more than 7 hours and at least the front page, the thumbnails and the images directory are partially restored, but the downloadable videos in 5 differents formats, and the assets for visitors like tutorials and blend files will take much more time are there are still more than 6 GB to upload, and I can't do it full day.

It is the second time they crash the site completely... but as there is no hoster in France allowing high monthly bandwidth and huge hosting space, and also even for smaller space they are much more expensive, so I can't move...

As I have an old Bronze plan that can still be renewed, but that no more exist for new customers, I think that they prefer to sell the new unique and much more expensive plan and don't care much of old clients with "obsolete" and les expensive accounts.

This said, I have no warranty that this wouldn't occur with a "pro" plan...

Still uploading...

I think that during the next days, FileZilla will be my best friend...

Hm, bad news...
Google have a cache option to show websites from the google cache.

Maybe it works...

12 hours of upload... 2GB/10GB loaded...

My site looks OK for its main features now, but all downloadable videos will be missing for a long time as well as some tutorials and assets for visitors.

If you find some links dead or missing files for something you are interested about, please just let me know and I will try to upload them in priority.

After several days of uploading almost full time, I was almost done with 8.5GB/10GB of data uploaded, and they crashed the new hard disk!

They propose to move my domain on an other server, but I'd have to upload again myself !

This is too much ! This comes a short time after my hosting renewal order, but as the renewal date is not yet reached, I thought that the best I could do was to change to an other web hoster , but I have just discovered that I can't get a safe server with a mirror of my site with shared hosting !

Dedicated servers are too expensives for me, and also I fear that I have not enough technical knowledges to manage such a server...

EDIT : Well, decision taken and action engaged : I have sent an account cancellation request, and launched the procedure of tranfer for my domain, to an other hoster and registrar.

I fear I'll have to wait for around one week before the procedure is completed. During this time, I can't buy a new hosting pack at my French hoster because it has to be attached to my domain.

So, my website will not be on line for at least one week + data upload and settings... so around 2 weeks I think. I hope that I will not lose too many ranks in search engines...

EDIT AGAIN : I don't know what they are doing at Canaca.com... maybe they don't know themselves ! They told me that all my data were lost and that they could do nothing.

I transferred my domain to an other hoster and registrar, and sent an account cancellation request, and now my site is on line again ! That's too late now. I appreciate that visitors have something to see for now, but anyway the tranfer process is launched, and I'll have to upload again 10 GB in the next weeks !

Hello, my new hosting platform has been activated today. The site is on line in its main functions. Everything is uploaded except the downloadable videos. As there are more than 6GB, uploading the videos will require around one week.

E-mail redirections are set up now, and so I shouldn't miss your messages if you send any.

Hello ! My website is on the rails again ! I've even fixed some small bugs for which I hadn't found solutions before.

I hope that this new hoster will have safer servers than the previous one !

congrats, I'm glad you finally got it all running, and I hope it doesn't happen again, if it does, just call the zombies and we will eat your provider's (small) brains! ;)

HAHA ! Thank you ! This said, there is no Raid mirror on shared servers, even on Premium accounts (privates or dedicated servers are really too expensives for me). But I already have an other site on this server for several years, and I never encountered a crash so far. I cross all my fingers (even my toes !)
