It was in PT rendering

I have now saved the image (while rendering) more than 20x times and it worked. Did this problem occur again or was it a one off?

Cheers,
Marcus
I was not able to reproduce this stuff and this happens first time to me since i use octane...i just know that i was switching from PMC to PT and other way, i was minimazie octane and restoring up images that i saved before. In background i was running archicad15 and blender at least...with loaded scenes in them
numbers of samples and Ms was halted but octane was still sucking my system while i was able to work in win7, UI refresh mybe ? So i had quit octane and reload scene
Somehow i find PMC and PT much harder to navigate with one card in complex scenes especialy comparing to PMC 2.47 probably due how octane refresh screen now

disaster comes as a chain reaction of a little problems so thats why i had that problem :=)

Just to let you know: We planned to release the bugfix update beta 2.48b today, but unfortunately we couldn't resolve all issues we wanted to resolve for that release. -> I guess, we will release it tomorrow then, if everything goes according to plan. There is basically just one larger issue left on our list.

Cheers,
Marcus

I think I know where the problem is, but can't reproduce it. Could you please send us that scene to [email protected] ?

Thanks a lot,
Marcus
Hello Marcus,

Unfortunately I can not hand over the scene (NDA) but I will try to recreate it and send you the modified scene.
It also happening in Pathtracing mode (see Crop Image), so it might not be a special Ambient Occlusion Problem.

Thanks for your help. Maybe the problem occurs, even if you remove everything except the few polygons visible in your crops?

Hi Marcus, i didn't send you the scene because yesterday, at home i loaded it and everything was fine, so i really don't know what happened, maybe an unexpected RAM issue.

Thank you, too. If only the shading was incorrect, the problem could have been the bug in the node system we have fixed yesterday. Well, let's see tomorrow. Hopefully that problem is solved, too.

Cheers,
Marcus

Hmm, that is weird. We haven't changed much in that area. Could you please send a scene (OBJ/MTL file), that doesn't load correctly to [email protected] ?

Thanks,
Marcus
Hi, i did some other tests. It behaves this way only when i reload\relink the mesh on my scene, because loading the mesh on a new project from scatch seems to work flawlessy
+1
the reloaded mesh via relink button gets broken, every time, looks like overlapping mesh stays the same and the difference in the meshes gets broken and has holes
a clean reload from scratch works ok

The recent slow refresh mode is really tedious. I hate it.

The high interactivity was the reason I purchased Octane. Please remember what is written on Refractive site front page :

Why You'll love it ?
Not only is Octane Render fast, but it is completely interactive which allows you to work with your scene in ways that were not possible in the past. Edit the lighting, materials, camera settings, depth of field, etc. in real time with instant feedback on the results. It allows you to work at the speed of your imagination. You will feel more like a photographer exploring your scene. It makes rendering fun again.

I am really sorry to say that since the screen refreshing time has been increased, there is no more fun.

The new refreshing mode is in my humble opinion no more compliant with the advertising.

Please come back to the previous mode, or add a button allowing to refresh like before when working on the scene (navigating and setting up materials) and slow refresh when rendering out of control of the user.

The high interactivity is (was ?) the main advantage of Octane. Do not forget that point.

My main concern here is the memory, in 2.46 I had much memory to work on. In 2.48 the memory has been reduced.

According to the developers, available memory hasn't been reduced. It is just being reported more accurately now.
