Hmm, I tried that on Friday and it worked as far as I can remember. What exactly is broken?

Octane loads the project.obj file but not the project_anim.obj file.
You can see it, if you make a simple cube in the center of the scene and render it as a single frame.
Afterwards, move the cube to an other position, with or without animition isn´t essential, and press the render animition button.
You will see, the cube stays in the center.

For users who want to use the new version to render animation.
It should be possible to solve it, if you search the scripts to the "_anim" string. This string shoud be present 2 times.
One for the .obj and one for the .mtl file. Change the "_anim" to "" and it should work, but make first a copy of the script...

Ah I see. Do I understand it correctly that relinking with a different OBJ file than the one originally used is broken?

I'm having some problems importing the geometry on 2.48, it seems it can't load some polygons. This is what happens, tried to load the mesh on 2.47 and 2.46 and it gives absolutely no problem

While octane was rendering i tryed to save the image and system halted and octane crashes
It was in PT rendering

Well I did some test, PT+PMC with portals and PMC without it.
First I wanted to release the full power of both gpus on the scenes, it work fine, linear increase I was getting tons of samples but after 5 minutes, I stop hearing my 470, the only good thing about the noise level of the 470 is that you know when the damm thing is working, so when its fan stopped I got "worried" so I checked the scene, octane kept running and I run the nvidia monitor to see if everything was working. The monitor couldn't find my second gpu, the 470, and in devices it showed a second one but it was empty, nameless, the system couldn't find, so it crashed big time. I stopped the render, and opened a new scene in octane, the gpu count said there where 0 gpus active, I went to preferences, and there it only showed up the 570 but I couldn't added to the active set. I had to shutdown and restart the PC. Since I was going to let the PC working for those test without supervision (I was out the whole day) I didn't risk trying to run multigpu again, I'll re-test it later on or tomorrow.
I've also noticed a minor bug, I set 20K samples thru the command line, but octane set the samples to 16k (which was the maxsamples set in the ocs file).
Here are the tests, HDRI for lighting no dispersion on glass, the same camera setup for all 3 and the only changes are portals and kernel. Obviously not hotpixel removal or retouch

Hmm, that is weird. We haven't changed much in that area. Could you please send a scene (OBJ/MTL file), that doesn't load correctly to [email protected] ?

after ten minutes 2.47 VS 2.48 + portals
for me its the same...no gain which tells me that portals need somekind od optimization
in this scene, after 10 minutes there is no winner, i just loose more time adding portals :)
so 2.47 still lives in 2.48 :) (after 10 minutes:)

PMC portal; 2.48; 10 minutes...only time is relevant from now on

And so I´ll have to use an AMD card for viewport, and a Tesla for GPGPU if the trend continues and as soon as Nvidia sees this combination cropping up, they´ll make sure their drivers don´t install with an nvidia card in the system, then you need at least 2 machines, one for your content creation tools and one for rendering.
This makes the vains on my forehead rather visible.
