I am instaling cuda toolkit 4 at the moment and will see if that helps.
thanks for al your help.

It seems that 2.47 does not support multiple GPUs.

Here is a quote from abstrax (see here http://refractivesoftware.com/forum/vie ... =33&t=6834):

"Since this release does not contain the changes in our render framework, multi-GPU still does not work properly and is not the focus for it."

and on the nvidia control panel i dont know where to switch of multy gpu ??
maybe i reinstal the card again ? what do you think ?
cheers

Right click on the desktop, there should be a Nvidia Control Panel in the menu, then within Multi-GPU configuration bracket set the "Disable Multi-GPU".

If this does not work, i dunno, there might be issue with the board not being SLI, although i doubt it. It definitely its not cause of the card being mounted bad, it would not work at all....

Have another look at the Nvidia control panel. I suspect the card is configured as being 2 gpu in SLI. I am pretty sure you can disable that in software...where exactly I cant tell you though as I dont have one :)

for multi GPU .Before i installed the GTX 590 , i had 2 GTX 285 and both of them
have been detected by windows and octane ,
I realy dont know where the problem is . the single GPU octane can see works
fantastic .

Yep there is something like set multi-gpu and physx configuration, or something called like that.

Oh, found a screenshot, bad quality, but perhaps youll get the idea:

By default the "maximize 3d performance option" is turned on, you need to turn it off by choosing Disable Multi-GPU option...

You could download GPU-Z btw and check, if it sees both cores, just to be sure.

You can make a test with the 2.46b version for Cuda 3.0, as it as best multi GPU support so far.

 You can also use 2.47beta Test setup with only 1 GPU declared, and open a second instance of Octane and 2.47b, and enable only the second GPU. By using appropriate resolution settings, and the "shift lens" option, you can use 99% of the computing power of each GPU at the same time ! You just have to merge your two renders when rendering is finished on each Instance of octane !

It works with my two GTX 580 3GB. It is worth doing a trial with your GTX 590 !

That is interesting idea, never crossed my mind. Anyway i tested 2.47 with both cores on and there WAS 2x speedup with PMC on that particular scene i tested. So IMHO while the multi-GPU might not be working properly with every single possible setting, its not broken completely as well.
