so I just read a link pasted in this forum regarding MLT

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_light_transport

at first when you guys mentioned about MLT I tought it was the .MTL file that comes with creating an OBJ file... , but it turns out that its just a faster calculation then what Octane is using currently Pathtracing...

if so how much faster is it comparing MLT to pathtracing ? and why does pathtracing creates hot white spots ? I think in Vray it can be filtered using postwork option in the render to clamp the fireflies.

will Octane have option to go biased aswell ?

thanks again for your hardwork!! what a talent too

regards

Hi,

It's quite complex to explain but MLT samples the areas where there are fireflies more, so they are less apparent, eg they 'drown' in the other samples.
We currently have no plans to support biased GI techniques other than the already implemented directlighting/ambient occlusion.
However this might be added in the near future if there is a lot of user demand...
