Hello all,

I have a question, will be it possible to add in Octane the possibility to use also the RAM of the computer to not be limited with the datas put in Octane ( like fur ) ?
Other question, will Octane support volumetric rendering, subdiv and displace ?
I know that GPU is faster than CPU, but an hybrid solution can put Octane in a good marketing postion ( hybrid also with RAM ).

In all ways, Octane is good :D

Thank you,

For my own, I think that Octane's speed is one of the strong points that put in in good marketing position. Hybrid solutions seem to be much slower, and as an Indigo user, I left it because of Octane's speed.

Currently, I'm struggling with RAM/VRAM problems. I recently purchased two GTX 580 3GB, and as my system has only 8GB of RAM and can't host more, I think that on the opposite RAM usage should be minimized as much as possible, because currently I can't use much more than the half of my GPU memory (VRAM) because of the need of RAM to load the files...

So I think that any process involving more use of the RAM is a nail in the foot !

Yeah it was explained a little by radiance in a past post. You have to keep the whole scene to the graphics cards ram only. The latency issue would arise if you tried to keep part of the scene in your main board ram.Octane would slow to a crawl if the G.P.U. tried to access this to load the scene.
