A new release of blender is available from http://www.blender.org

There are some interesting new features in this release. 2.60 can't be far off now :D
(HW) Intel i7 2600k, 16GB DDR3, MSI 560GTX ti (2GB) x 3
(SW) Octane (1.50) Blender (2.70) (exporter 2.02)
(OS) Windows 7(64)

I think it's time I start switching to the new blender... should I use the 1.09d for 2.58 or do we wait for a newer one?

Insets are probably the best new feature there.

I am still using 1.10 which Lionel released slightly after 1.09. I'm not sure which is the "best" but 1.10 works a treat still.

Yes but I more like the extra Addon called "Inset Extrude":

Especially for modelling buildings it can be very handy :-)
