The feature suggestions are sometimes ending up in a big complex list.
But to make it short, this is what I am missing mostly:

1. Transparent shadows in direct lighting mode.
2. 'Real' refractions (glass behaviour) of specular material caused by sun-system.
3. SSS

What are your top 3 features missing in Octane?

* Local material DB
* Flexible node workflow (copy/paste, move, group, reusing images without re-browsing to files, etc...)
* Ability to move objects (at least emitters)

1. Ability to move, rotate, and size objects & mesh lights in Octane.
2. Ability to render a region (instead of the entire scene).
3. Volumetric lighting (for spotlights)

Well, the question has been asked many times and yet recently, but I will answer anyway :

1 - Instances, as I like working on large and open scenes with often reapeated objects, I have never enough memory available.

2 - A button to disable shadows casting for a material, allowing to create non shadow blocking skydomes or background environment cylinders, because currently they block the light coming from the Daylight system.

3 - A material receiving transparent alpha shadows for compositing the ground in other image.

It is a pain to limit myself to 3 points !

I´m mainly happy by now... mainly, because it could always get better, so this would be my top-three:

1. fully functional multi-GPU support.
2. Renderlayers & 32-bit export (e.G. EXR or HDR) , I would love to change exposure in post.
3. Ability to move, rotate, and size objects & mesh lights in Octane.

1) instancing: 60% of my scenes can't be render in octane :( cpu render is much faster in this case
2) ao on specular material in direct lighting or the ability to disabling ao for specific materials
3) sun +hdri in the same time

ciao beppe

I agree totally... and i also go a bit crazy to see "hey look at my diamond is better with PMC" threads..

I respect to chasing the ultra photorealism but there are lots of jobs out there waiting for octane's already breathing quality...

i hope Octane team gives a time schedule...for these features..in this thread...
