Octane works in HDR internally so it requires 128bpp for the render buffer,
and 64bpp extra for other things internally.

so, do you trying to say, that I need about 1.5Gb to render 4000*3000 pixels image in Octane? How it could be that I rendered pictures in same resolution in maxwell without fail with 2Gb RAM? I should remember that 2Gb -1.5Gb = 0.5Gb that seem to be not enought for rest windows core, maxwell core and so on. Could you explain in details?

And by the way! Why in your reason Octane dont show memory it takes for final picture? Because I tryed to render 2048*2048 and 1600*1200 and still was getting fail.

sorry for bad english

Hi,

thats' 24 bytes per pixel (192 bits),
so 4000x3000 = 274 MB total, not 1,5GB.

hmmm.... it seems me strange... because having more, than 400mb free I couldnt render picture even more than 1600*1200. Could it be just bug of Octane alfa version, or these problem is in my hardware?

Anyway - thanks for helping

have you tried changing the resolution before starting the engine ?
eg open the app, change resolution, then load object and render.

the current alpha versions are a bit unstable when changing the resolution after the engine has been started on some GPUs.
i'm fixing this.
