Hi,

Month ago, I reported some problems with the lightwave plugin.(smooth)

I can not use octane because of these bug.

it's too bad, because I love very much to use octane.

Now, I want to know, if the plugin is still developed by holocube or not.

The biggest one is that when you export an object, the smooth don't works with reflective surface.

This is a pain for me because my last job is to render anim of bottles of wine and oil for Advertising.

The only way to do this is to export with the lightwave exporter, texture in octane, then place the obj in another folder.

Then I setup my anim in layout and I export to octane. When lightwave has finished to export and before octane load the geometry, I replace quickly the obj exported by the plugin with the obj exported with modeler standart exporter.

This works, but this is so tricky. And you can't do this if the geometry is deformed.

This is My biggest problem with octane. I hope it will be resolved soon...

wow this is very very hard workaround mate..

For diffuse materials, when i turn on smoothing in LW surface editor and export it with octane exporter, somehow Octane sees it smooth. If i do not check smoothing in surface editor, there is no way of smoothing that poly in octane..

I dont know is it same with glossy or other materials..?

Other option can be to SubDividing that polygon in higher numbers (10) .. i know it will be full of polies but you may get away with some shots... of course it does not work with close up shots..
