I have a pentiom i7 2600. 8 cores at the moment.
In some packages like maxwell you have the option to state hoe many of these cores will be used for the software, and how many will be left untouched for other things you are doing in the mean time.
It would be extremely usefull to have something like this in Octane as well.
oops! (this was supposed to be an reply to the octane wishlist post) accidently clicked on "new post" button.
was not able to delete or move this post.
My bad.
Request - CPU cores Ammount
Hi,
Octane does not run on your CPU but on your GPU,
and GPUs don't run multitasking operating system kernels,
so there is no way to limit or share the amount of work.
The 2.47 PMC testbuild does improve the laggy graphics response while rendering with the new PMC kernel,
you can find it in the release candidates forum.
Or, like many pro users, add a 2nd GPU for display, so your grunty GPU is free for octane rendering.
