I left octane rendering overnight but it only rendered one (a wrote a wrong filepath and the batch stoped) this is my test, just an HDRI for lighting and curtains in the windows to put things worse. After about an hout and 16000 samples this is the result (PMC default values maxdepth 128, hotpixel 1), not quite solve. Any ideas?
Also I noticed that the maxdepth value in this beta is "capped" at 16 so when I open an existing scene with a higher value, like this one, it shows in red (I had 128 maxdepth), could this had something to do with it?

Don't use dispersion for windows. Only use dispersion if you need to, because it introduces spectral noise which takes longer to clear.

Regarding sun through glass: I haven't tested it, but I don't think you can get sun light through specular materials. You still have to use the architectural glass trick. Maybe Roeland can correct me, if I'm wrong here.

Marcus

Just for your information: I have uploaded a 32bit Windows build.

Happy rendering,

Hi all!

It has been a while since I wrote to these forums. I hope that I will have time to create some art with Octane this summer; I've just been busy with other stuff lately.

Here are three renders to test the different kernels, each 8000 samples/px. Other settings can be seen from the screenshots.

Pmc seems to converge well even in this case, with a closed room and a single blackbody emitter.
