Hi all,

i've just finished my first product render and i get some troubles. Perhaps somebody here can give me advices and critics.

The first shot is the product without cap ( i'm happy with this but don't know how to get rid off some aliasing)
The second shot is with the cap and here i'm not very happy because i can setup a good material for the cap
the third one is a quick camere shot to show you what i must end up with the cap material.

thanks for yours comments

Didier

Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you're asking. That first image is a photo, right?

Yes, the first on on the screen is a picture.
the second one the render with the cap and the last one the render without the cap.

As you can see, the cap material destroy the final render comparing to the picture ( the white plastic become grey).
The problem is: how to setup the cap material to match the one in the picture. I've tried a lot of things but impossible to reproduce. It seem that all the time the cap change the color of the plastic, and i don't understand how to setup the cap material to a like white plastic with transparency (like in the picture), I arrive all the time with a grey looking material ( already play with the maxdepth without success, mix material with specular and glossiness, etc.)
I get confuse to the material setup.

I hope it's more clear enough to understand now ( the final image must look like the picture one)

thanks

have you modeled the cap as a solid object or does it have thickness to the walls? If it is solid then this may be causing your problems.

Yes, it has thickness. Why would it be the problem? This is normal that the cap had thickness, no ?

You can accomplish something similar by using a mix material, mixing an specular and a glossy material... I also added a slight film (filmwidth) to the glossy part as well. The specular part is white, with a very low IOR to prevent too much distortion. The glossy part is white as well.

If you use only a specular material, when trying to lower the transparency the material will darken as well, which is weird but this is how it works!
