I just wanted to share this with you creative people out there. My sister is a writer and she just posted an article about commenting on each others work.
It is so important to get different opinions and perspectives on your work and progress of work.
Now I don't mean going to a total stranger and asking them. But asking people close to you and people who are interested in the same thing (such as the octane forums) to find a honest opinion.
I encourage everyone to speak their mind, without breaking someone down. Be helpful and share knowledge.
That's what these Forums are all about.

Here is a link to the article.

Totally agree. Constructive criticism is very important (and something I kinda miss on this forums). Hearing or reading words of appreciation is very cool and feeds your ego, but in reality it doesn't help you improve your work & skills. Other people can see your work totally differently and their view on the matter can help you to think differently (in ways you otherwise maybe wouldn't). So critics also expand your views.

I prefer to hear one negative critic over ten positive (generic) comments, as long as the critic is constructive and clarified, not just "you suck" :D

Ycarry I am sorry you feel this is an attempt at spam, I really am. That was not my intention at all.
This is the Off topic forum and this is off topic but still relates to what forums are all about.
In my defence I just wanted to show how important constructive criticism yes and how we should implement it within these forums.
Well that's what your comment was, criticism on my post. Now I can take that and learn to be more selective on what I say on these forums.
IMHO these forums are about showing off our work, it is about promoting what we enjoy doing and that is 3D and using Octane.

Well I would like to know thoughts and please lets not get angry or frustrated with each other.
This is an open discussion and lets just be honest and respectful to each other.

We are all artists here, not potential clients. I think that we all share our works, technics and ideas with each others (Gallery, Wips, website URL in signatures...) So I don't see this as a spam for my own. Knowing better other people is always interesting imho.
