Hello all,

Just a stupid question, but what's happen if the scene is bigger than the graphic card memory ? example, the scene need 3 Giga and the card only have 1.5 giga ? Octane will deal with the system memory or not ?

If not, it'll be a great features to implement that.

Best regards,

Matt

If your scene is bigger than your amount of VRAM, the scene won't load. Octane cannot use system memory, because that will kill all the performance.

Also remember that VRAM is not shared between multiple graphic cards - if you have two 1GB graphic cards, the max amount of available VRAM will be 1GB, not 2.

In practice you can save a lot of VRAM with clever usage of textures & materials, by optimizing your scene geometry and also in the future instances will be available, for further decrease of RAM usage.

At this stage, if the scene, and the resultant target file doesn't fit into memory it won't render.
