That last render is reallllly nice! how long did you let it bake for radiance?

So if my understanding is correct.the new PMC kernel is a better but similar Kernel to Pathtracing.
If that is the case , should this not be just a replacement for Pathtracing rather than an addition.
Presumably Pathtracing will become effectively redundant.Unless there are various scenarios where using Pathtracing is still relevant.

Path tracing will probably still be faster for well lit exteriors and such. As stated, the new algorithm will be best for complicated lighting with much indirect light.

that looks great - caustics are something I really like so anything which helps with rendering them is great

those shots are fantastic, and if it already runs at the same speed is simply perfect!
Thanks for the previews you guys rock. I've been busier than ever and haven't had much time to spend here, but when I spoted this I had to stop to say thanks!

Could explain a little bit how IES are handled by area lights?
Wish it will be documented in the next release.
Great job!

My hopes for the new kernel:
PMC
- more realistic transparent objects (light passing through, refractions)
- no fireflies and better caustics (solved
)
- full CUDA kernel support
DL
- treatment of transparent srfcs in direct lighting (future?)

Hi guys,
Since it will still take some time to finish up the other development for 2.5,
we are thinking of doing a PMC kernel test release (not an official release) sometime next week in the release candidates forum,
to see how the new kernel performs in your hands, and maybe we can catch some bugs doing so before we release 2.5 and have a stable release.
I can't promise when though, hopefully sometime next week.

sounds good
Can't wait for V2.48 beta (Guess) next week
