Anyone else noticed trouble getting on to the website recently? I was expecting to read some outage in service announcement but I've not seen one. Since the weekend I've noticed at least twice where I couldn't get on the RS site for hours at a time.

Luckily Octane has continued to work during these times.

Yes, yesterday evening it was unavailable, as some days earlier. In both occasions I was hoping to see the new site design up the next day... :D

Yeh
That occurred to me also.

Perhaps it was a D.O.S attack instead.

Yes we had trouble with the web server and we are currently investigating the issues.

Cheers,

It would have been nice to had some sort of entry on the forum explaining this. As it was, the site came back up and life carried on as if nothing had happened.

Hi guys,

The problems are now fixed, one of our webservers had hardware problem with it's memory,
which is now replaced and the issue is resolved.

The server went down 3 days in a row, each for 1-4 hours each.
After the first downtime, we throught it was disk related,
and did some checks and found no immediate issues,
so we thought it would not return,
but after the 2nd crash, we identified the issue and took the server offline for HW replacement of the memory on the 3rd day,
so now all should be fine.

Rest assured that octanelive was not interrupted, only our website/forum.
Octanelive runs on a separate redundant backend.

Thanks for the Update Radiance.

Shame that PC hardware doesn't last forever.

I think the manufacturers call it built in obsolescence. :)
