Hi all,
i just install the demo release (before buying it for sure) to see how to include octane with my workflow on product design, and try to setup some cool render on cosmetic product design, but i don't know how to apply a texture on the glass.
Do i have to setup the uv mapping in a third 3D software, or can i project the texture on a bottle for example without any uv placement.
on wich channel, must i put the texture?
Is there any tuto somewhere?
thank you for your help

Create your mapping in a 3d party app.
If you use Rhino then you can easylie create Mappings (Automatic/Surface, Box, Custom) ect.
Rhino has a good help.

As far as I know - there are 3 ways of doing that:didier13 wrote:ok, i've done the uv mapping...but after , how i apply the texture?

1. Create an additional sticker object, which sits on top of the bottle object. Here you then can assign whatever texture you want.
2. Assign part of the bottle polygons a different material.
3. Mix between the specular glas material and the diffuse sticker material using a UV mapped texture. If your sticker texture has an alpha channel, you could use an alphaimagetexturenode of the sticker texture to modulate between the glas and the sticker material.
Maybe someone who has done option 3 already can explain the last option in a bit more detail.

Thank you marcus for these informations. i'm going to setup the third method to test it.
Thanks for this wonderfull product (it saving my life in the rendering time comparing to Vray and other app - even if there are very good renderer too)

Just buy it now ! i'm waiting for the licence
