I'm leaning towards getting a Quadro Card. Because I've heard of the Nvidia consumer cards having problems with this kind of stuff(OpenGl). ATI Firepros are kind of out because I've read about them being buggy with the application I'll be using.
I have my eye(s) on two cards right now. The Quadro 600(If that would be good enough). Or if that wouldn't work, The Quadro 2000. The 600 would be my first choice due to budget, But I could get the 2000 if needed.
I wouldn't be using this computer for professional use. Just for fun and learning. But I do want something decent that wouldn't take forever to render stills/scenes and animations(Like architectural flythroughs). I'm using a laptop with an Radeon HD 3200 and what took this one guy in a tutorial 5 min? to render took me more like 5 hours. And it wasn't a complex scene. Just the renderer was slow and the scene had bump mapping and textures.
So I think the 600 would be ok(Comparing benchmarks to my current). But I don't know about that with Octane. I don't need anything studio quality. Just something I can leave rendering overnight or all day while I'm doing other things.
Two last note:I could afford get 2 600's. But only 1 2000. And I wouldn't need to use the computer while it was rendering.
Thanks
