Hi there,
Im new to octane render and I was trying to get some Ivy generator creepers on to my OBJ model and export it to octane. But for some strange reason the ivy mesh is all blackened. Could someone help me out with this. Im using maya mainly for modelling and texturing. Is there anyone who could advice me regarding plant generating software which I could use with octane. Thanks you!

The most obvious answer, have you defined a material for the ivy? If not then Octane will use a default material which is black by default.

Hi,
It's quite difficult to figure out without more information, but usually an OBJ file comes with an MTL file which is created with it and contains the material definitions, colours, textures etc...
See if you exported an MTL file and open it in a text editor.
If the paths to the textures are incorrect, they are not imported and used.
