I had the nvidia in with forceware installed.
removed the bottom of my case to fit the cards :D
switched on, installed catalyst, rebooted, done.

And yes I have two screens and you need "two screens"
If you put 2 geforce in 1 machine it detects both even with only one connected to a screen.

With different drivers it does not recognize the second card as active without a screen.
However, all you need is do connect a dummy dvi so windows thinks there is a screen:

Thanks for that.

So if I understand you correctly, in a nutshell the install sequence as as follows.

1) Install the Geforce card with drivers and test render in octane with screens attached.
2) Install ATI card , switch your displays to that the ATI card so that it is detected by win7 and then install the ATI drivers.
3) Fit a dummy DVI connector to the Geforce card so that win 7 is still aware of it and will continue to use it for rendering in Octane although headless.

Yeh Jabber sounds good to me.
I actually got several displays so it didn´t occur to me to test it with only one - You´r on your own soldier. Good luck :P

If you need to install/reinstall/remove drivers I recommend to boot into save mode after uninstalling a driver and use Driver Sweeper. This way there´ll be no temprorary, dll or registry residue of any kind.

Sounds like a lot of drama to me. Octane has been a big disappointment to me. I actually switched to using Modo for awhile since Octane development virtually froze for quite some time. I expected a RC by now complete with the promised features. While I understand life gets in the way of development, especially in small companies like RS, I don't agree with a lot of the practices of RS. For example, it is a bit inappropriate to announce on your forums about how upset you are about a former employee. I've also read and spoke with some artists who I know have very professional attitudes being locked out of the forums here for making a simple comment. Much of the details of Brecht's departure have been sketchy on both sides. RS says that Brecht left suddently and Brecht says that RS let him go abruptly. To be honest I think it would be absurd of Brecht to leave a job that makes more money to work for a open source foundation that would pay him very little. I'd suggest RS spend less time worrying about this and more time finishing the software they promised to their customers. For now I haven't Octane uninstalled until it reaches a more complete level.

I have built and tried Blender Cycles and I find it to be impressive for a pre-alpha.

From watching the videos about cycles I really loved the concept of a full integration into blender. Please build something like that for rhino and octane!! Soon. Please!

PS. And please find a way to make usage of octane possible without internet connection!

Hopefully this will be the kick up the bum that RS need to get Octane moving forward. It will be interesting to see how fast cycles progresses.

Of course you all may not have thought of the impact this will probably have.

Consider this.Bretchts Code is in the public domain under the GPL licence I assume.

Probably it's been viewed and studied by all the other Render Companies out there, looking for a way forward.

Expect to see all the companies move to GPU rendering within the next year.

After that.Well it will then be down to value for money and what each renderer offers in features that differ from the other.

Then you pays your money and takes your choice.

Would be nice as the latest update is already a month old. I've already switched to other renderers as Octane is still missing lots of features it should have (camera animation for example). Cycles will outgrow Octane if they keep this pace.
