Hi, 2.45 crashes/leaves suddenly after 30/45 mns of pathtracing rendering, this didn't happen at all with 2.44 and previous releases. I render on my second 580 3Gb (first is not used for rendering, only for display) and I monitor the gpu temperature with fan control which is stable (~60/70 ° celcius). I have the reg fx applied for the timeout thing on vista 64,. This behavior is really new, I was able to render some heavy scene/animations overnight without any troubles before!

Could you please run the same scene in beta 2.44 and if the problem doesn't happen there, try it again in beta 2.45? Is this a common problem, or does it happen only sometimes or only with that scene?romrom74 wrote:Hi, 2.45 crashes/leaves suddenly after 30/45 mns of pathtracing rendering, this didn't happen at all with 2.44 and previous releases. Unfortunately this error description doesn't help at all, as we don't have any idea, where to start looking for potential culprits...
Thanks for your help,
Marcus

ok I tried on 2.44 and 2.43: in fact octane closes suddenly also in 2.44 with pathtracing after 30 mns (not really reproducible unfortunatly). I'm rendering the same scene on 2.43 for more than 1 hour, reaching 16 000 samples without any troubles...I have set the trdlevel at 0 as I previously said, so this isn't normally a timout issue here. drivers are 266.58 for gtx580.
I'm also noticing that my gpu temperature (for the one I use for rendering) is really cooler while rendering in 2.43 than 2.44 and 45 (64° vs 74°)For the moment i'm testing with one scene only, I may investigate further to see if this happens with other scenes I've already rendered some time ago.

Hi, just a quick reply to say I've resolved my problem by installing 2 gtx 580 3Gb of same trade (gainward) where before i had 2 different gtx580 in same box.
Apparently drivers and more of it, fan control utilities (either nvidia or card proprietary tools) don't really play well with heterogeneous hardware. So I believe this issue was related to some malfunctionning of the cooling utilities with two different cards (and thus cooling systems) inducing some overheating then selfprotecting crashes...
