Hi,
I did a project with some objetcs, builing, trees... its kind lot of polygon. I used a nurbs program, some 3dsmax models and export to obj. When i tried to open in octane render its dos open, but i click the scene and just close the program, no error message.
Octane can't open big scenes ? I'm on GTX460 1gb , 6gb ram ... i think can handle it.
Someone can say if is only the demo that has this problem ? I would be able to open large scenes ? Like a house, rooms, lots of objetcs... i'm asking because i work with product visualizations, modelling and some architectural building decoration/visualization and its normal to have really large scenes plus lots os objects.
Octane closes when i try to render

I would suggest loading the scene and then open the Preferences /cuda devices tab and take a look at how much of the cards memory is consumed with the scene loaded. If you are using the card for display as well, you need to bear in mind that some memory from the card is used for display as well. If cuda devices tab reports back around 700mb + then you may be approaching the cards memory limit if you are indeed also using it to power the display.lmcdesign wrote:Hi,

Hi,
Are you using a 32bit or 64bit OS ?
If you're mesh/scene data is too large to fit in the 2GB process space of a 32bit OS, the application will close.
A 64bit OS handles these.
On a 64bit OS, you should be able to load/voxelise the scene, but if the data is too large for the GPU, you will get an error message,
or, if you are running other applications or an OS that use video memory (which is currently not deducted from the total memory in the GPU visible to octane, this is a CUDA driver issue), octane might try to load it into the GPU and crash.

Hi,
I'm on 64bits OS with 6gb ram. My video card is a 1gb GTX460.
I'm using 2 monitors: 22" and fullHD 21.5"
Can be a wrong obj export settings doing this ? I don't think the GPU is out of memory just to open the program, there is no warning about it ? The program don't show some error message ?
Is necessary lots and lots of memory to render big scenes ? 1gb is not good ? =/
ps: Sorry my bad english
