Hi all,
is there anyone else interested into an export from Poser to Octane?
I want to get started on one, or join an existing project.
Anybody knows if there is something on the way?
Best regards,

So do I, it's a pretty good idea !Zay wrote:But I sure do welcome a project like that
By the way, wouldn't you be interested in creating an exporter from Daz Studio to octane ?

DAZ, well yes, but not now. I think current DAZ has no python interface.
Writing Python is easier than writing , so I think Poser would be a better place for me to start.
If you have any idea regarding workflow or functionality, just post it

Good luck with the project, although I'm the same as teecee2107 regards this; I would much prefer to see a DAZ Studio version.
BTW, did you know all the SDK's for DAZ Studio are free now?

Yes. But I think we should wait until DAZ4 is released before working on DAZ plugin....
And maybe the maker of the reality plugin would be a better man to make an exporter

Well, I'm not a programmer and I keep hearing stuff about DS4 needing to be released before a lot of plugin developers can do what they want, so I suppose there must be something in it.
Not so sure about the Reality guy doing the plugin though, not if the interface for his current plugin is anything to go by, but I'll not jump to conclusions just yet, I'll leave conclusions until he releases his next update. I can't even use some of the controls because the design of the plugin literally forces them out of accessibility on the screen. I actually only bought it because the Refractive guys had messed-up the .obj importer for DAZ figures in Octane at the time.
Thankfully, Marcus has fixed that for the next release, so that's a major relief!
I doubt I'd need to touch Reality any more, not when Octane's importer is back on track!
I only hope that when Refractive get around to the animation importers, that they will work with DAZ's output. If they do, then we have figures, scenes, and even dynamic cloth in Octane, all animated and rendered in no time flat! This is why I wanted Refractive themselves to work on a DS exporter for Octane, because no one knows better than the Refractive guys how best to interface with it.
Anyway, good luck with the plugin, whichever or whatever you decide upon
