Hi all,

We are a couple of days later than planned with the 2.45 release, we're aiming to release it on friday in the release candidates forum.
2.45 is being released together with 2.45 DEMO, as our 2.2b demo is severely out of date.

This is a minor release with more bugfixes, and some smaller new features and UI stuff, these have been the smaller tasks the new developer roeland has done during the last 3 weeks to get aquainted with all the areas of development.

Attached a screenshot, showing the new UI changes (the menu bars can me changed, the customize icon opens a window where you can choose top, bottom, left or right position, and drag buttons/icons on/off and around the menubars. so everything is customizable.)
It also has the new material preview ball scene, with matej's excellent background texture, and a better lighting, giving a more studio look (with an area light and environment)

So besides those, we also have the new 'note' node, so you can document your macros and scenes, aswell as IES and image texture distributions and watt/efficiency inputs for area lights/emitters support, which roeland has already shown in another thread.

If all goes well you can play with all this on friday.
This will be the last 2.4x release, next will be the big 2.5 which is 4-6 weeks off, if all goes well.

I dont suppose you would consider another small tweak to the UI?
Please in the outliner can you make it so any mat with emission then has say a yellow icon.
This would make them easier to spot among many when making changes ;)
Thanks :)

Hey,

We're pressed with time for friday, so i don't think we can take any further requests for 2.45... :(
Otherwise 2.5 will never arrive...

I'll take some notes for 2.5 though :)

Nice little things!

A note node is handy - I hope it's minimize-able (double-click on the icon?), so it will show only the title and hide the text

I'm glad that background turned out useful :)

Superb, can´t wait to get my fingers on it, love the new mat-preview scene and the fact that it´s GUI is now fully customizable.
Nice changes.

cool

note node will be seriously useful - I wish all applications had this sort of feature - Ableton Live for one (I know it has the note bit in the bottom left, but I'd like a proper floatable one)
