I am not shure wether is a bug or not in this build. But smoothing does not work at all for me. Checked or unchecked I keep seeing the faceted faces.
Did anyone encounter the same problem, or is it just me?
I hope someone can help.

Hi,

Can you please post a zipped testscene ?
It can be many things, difficult to figure it out from the information in your post.
But it is likely an OBJ export configuration issue.

Thanks Radiance for your reply,
Here I send a simple test scene with a plane, some spheres and HDRI. I used sketchup plugin for the exporting of the model.

Hi,

Indeed, I dont use sketchup myself so the files exported from it, eg OBJ and MTL wound be handy.

Hi,

I have this issue with glossy materials.

The surface is faceted.

BUT... if I export *.obj directly from the modeler(I use lightwave) without the plugin, all works perfect. If I export using the plugin,
smooth don't works... (even if it is turned on).

I have big issues with this because must render an animation shortly and I can't...

Hi,

It's best to write a post in the relevant plugin forum, with some images etc...

hey..i had the same problem with the latest plugin version 1024-01...with object smoothing..

but the earlier sketchup exporter plugin (1022-14) worked just fine, with octane 2.44
no smoothing issues with ver 1022-14..

Hi,

Thank you Radiance,

I have already done but for now I have no answer.

What I don't understand, is why, if the plugin don't export the smooth information, when I
go in octane, and I turn on the smooth manualy, nothing happens???

Is there another way to do a camera animation without using the plugin?

It seems like the smoothing problem is not only with the sketchup exporter but lightwave too? I really want to know where the problem is :(
