Thank you gzavye ! Well, it is more understandable than the video I had previously seen.

I have to practice now.

However, I come back to my question : is it possible to create/save a macro directly from a material created in the nodes inspector, or is it necessary to rebuild it from scratch in the node graph ?

That's the problem :(
No copyPaste to transfer existing network material into a macro.
You have to create your Macro first then open it to work.

Does anybody have any plans—either end-users and hobbyists, or the staff-members at OctaneRender…
—to create a fully detailed explanatory tutorial on the Octane-Render Node-Interface—WITH AUDIO ?

There needs to be a (preferably a SERIES of) tutorials, modular, step-by-step tutorials to bring new users into the nodal environment, and help them UNDERSTAND it.
---not just the few breezy show-and-tell—(minus the "tell" audio! ;o/ for (relatively) "power-users"—that skips over helping somebody who does not already KNOW the interface, LEARN the interface...
There is ONE tutorial video on the Octane site that seems to have some detail and has audio....in ITALIAN... (nothing against Italians!, just that I don't understand that language! :-)
(side note: How about creating some tutorial step-wise instructional videos, with multiple-language narration on several audio-tracks? Easily "do-able" in QuickTime .MOV files)

The few more currently posted, reasonably lengthy, more tutorial-style videos giving some detail on drag-and-drop modules being "bread-boarded" together with virtual
spaghetti-wiring, and with a panel of sliders for each (selected?) node just don't "do it" for me, (and I suspect for a lot of new users either! ;-//
The lack of AUDIO kills the effectiveness of the presentation! In a complex unfamiliar environment, "just pointing at something"
does not do any sort of adequate job of EXPLAINING it...

...Please Explain! :-)
"theMacGuy"...

I totally agree with you : there is not enough tutorials about Octane.
That's why I do my best to help users...

I am sorry to hear that you don't understand silence
I could make videos with french commentaries; but if you don't understand italian I think you won't understand french neither...
If you have problems with my videos just ignore them; it's more respectful.

Réponse adéquate et joliment tournée, gzavye !

Thanks for your good tutorials and for the time you spend on helping the octane community.
Please go on, they are helpful (at least for me ... ;) )
