So Im trying to find a good bang for buck but that can handle octane and take no longer the 20 min for rendering a 1500 x 1000 image. at 150dpi or higher.

i found this laptop
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.as ... &N=4047229

But if there is something better for similar price laptop or desktop (prefer laptop though) please let me know.

it has this graphics card in it and it has 72 cuda cores.

So my concern is. will it work good enough with octane. I mainly design products like poster cases for movie theaters and furniture (but no need for huge surrounding environment around the product. the computer is just a stepping stone. Once i can finish some projects ill be able to buy a way better rig.

Oh. i dont have octane yet cuz i dont have nvidia powered computer,
I use Sketchup pro 7 and 8 based on plugins i use for it,
and i want to use octane with Sketchup.

If not good enough what number of cuda cores, processor speed, memory speed should i look for that good enough.

any help would be great!!!!! thanks :?:

Hi, labtops are always bad in money/performance ratio.
For 900 $ you get a small quad core and a gtx 460 or gtx 560 ti with 336 or 384 cuda cores and DDR5 VRam.
My old gtx 260 has 192 old cuda cores and it is slow.
These cards are from a other planet in comparison to gt 335m or other mobile cards.
The gtx 555m has 144 cuda cores and also DDR3 VRam and a small Memory Interface Width > 192-bit.

If you need to be mobile buy a netbook and for work buy a real computer.

Cheers mib
