Just reporting a small bug. When you use export obj/mtl only, the obj file doesnt point to the correct MTL file, so importing into octane only has 1 surface.
The MTL is created correctly, its just that the obj file points to an mtl with the wrong file name. It uses the project name instead of the file name you type in when saving the obj

Here is a sample scene for the flipped polygon problem:
Create a box and send it to layout.
Save the scene, then export to octane using
- Octane Obj Export (win only)
- Obj properties: Fast
- write UV and Write point normal ON
You can then load the OBJ file back into modeler and see that its flipped.
I have attached a box scene, along with the files exported from the plugin so you can load into modeler and see the flipped box

What about glossy surfaces not smooting at all? Is It going to be fixed anytime soon?
Or should I use Modo instead then Lightwave?
Thank you!
