@acc24ex

You right the learning curve is pretty low and you get good results quickly. Most of the renders i posted here are sth like 500 samples max. When you have a new toy you wanna play and not wait for samples, even with 4 gtx 580.

Its just rendering my first animation overnight, lets see how it will come out. Im using 1024 Samples at 1280x720 and it seems to be taking around a minute per frame.

Im also using C4D so i can understand your frustration with it. It also seems the C4D plugin of Octane is still a bit touch and go. Still lots of crashes but now that im using riptide to import obj's to C4D it seems to work fine. Unfortunately my files largely come from maya and 3DS, then assemble and animate in C4D. What a pain file formats are !!

Yesterday i was rendering sth really small in C4D and it took 10 minutes to render even without GI. What a joke compared to octane!!

BTW do you know what the option "camera animation only" in the C4D->Octane exporter means, because it doesnt seem to make a difference !?!? Its a shame it has to open and close octane for each frame even though i am just animating the camera and depth of field
If you are not failing every now and again, it's a sign you are not doing anything very innovative.

+1 I agree completely. The difference is incredible.
