I looked over their site, looks like an interesting software, specifically their animation modules.

Meh, you can never have too many tools in your toolbox, every software has their own approach to solutions, some are being far better at certain tasks than others. Octane is a perfect example of this with rendering. Anyhow. I bought into that offer for a pro licence.

I wonder how long that offer has been up for? .. is there a demo besides the videos on their site?

Heh, I checked back on that site less than an hour later, Looks like their viral test is working. That bar has already moved at least 10% .. at that rate that offer will be done before the end of today.

Hm, I tried the win demo and it works with WINE on Linux.

For those who know this program;
* It's possible to use external renderers, like Renderman compliant (exporting to RIB)?
* Does it offer anything more than Blender? (the price is nothing, but the time spent on learning it might get wasted)

I have never used the program, but it seems that rendering externally is possible from these two threads:

They both seem to have rendered the animation in LightWave.

I've bought it just for the heck of it, character animation is more a hobby for me, I don't usually have the time, but I'll sure would love to learn, plus any iniciative as good as this one should be encouraged and supported. Also I've check the videos and they look awesome, if I can just rig one of my characters and do a short animation in octane with it, it'll be worth the money!
