"Therefore we are currently researching another very promising option which will offer a cheaper, smaller and more flexible hardware solution for our users needs.
We will announce our new hardware compute add-on product at the end of 2010."

Can anyone tell me what this option was, and whether or not it came to fruition?

Thank you! :)

This question was asked just a short while ago and the answer was that nothing has been found so far. Refractive software has been more focused on what they should be focused on, developing Octane. I'm sure they will update us when another option presents itself.
