Yay!!!! *happy dance* Just ran this version through it's paces. Absolutely no problems so far. :) I'm getting around 6 M-samples/sec on the benchmark ocs with my GTX460. Seems faster, I need to find the benchmark thread and see how it compares to the earlier version. Happy Grimm!

Abstrax - I'm running Fedora 13 and had no problems with the libraries, Octane fired up right away. It is running much more smoothly then before and very responsive. I have installed/running Cuda 3.2. Thanks to the Refractive team for a great job on this version.

Wow! I just noticed on the benchmark scene that there are no firefly's! I used to get tons of them, what changed? Did you guys sneak in the MLT stuff without letting us know? :D

Nope, sorry no MLT here.

I've tested the 2.4 CUDA 3.2 on Ubuntu 10.10, nvidia drivers 260.19.26, and it works ok.

I've noticed that the GUI responsiveness is somewhat worse than with pre2.3 (I have only one GPU, I guess that for normal work having a dedicated GPU for the display is a must).
OTOH, when paused, the responsiveness is normal again (under pre2.3 it wasn't) and I can do tonemaping without lag = one more small thing that makes life easier :)

I'll do more extensive testing later, but it looks very nice. Good job!

PS,
the CPU usage is still maxed out (both cores at 100%) when rendering heavier scenes. Could some Ubuntu user please confirm (or deny) this behaviour on his machine?

Hi octane team, works fine so far with opensuse 11.3/64 cuda 3.2.16.

I´ve noticed, the Viewport Controll Mappings only work with "Octane Render" (default).
Other Presets do nothing, I use the demo suite for testing.
Same with 2.35 but I don´t realize before.

Cheers mib

Edit: Like on matej`s system octane use 198 % of my 4 cores.

I think (but don't know for sure) that newer drivers should work, too.

Cheers,

Either way it's a huge improvement. 8-)

matej and mib - I haven't noticed that my cores are any more busy then usual. Although I have a 6-core processor, but I don't know if that would make any difference? Here is a screen capture, as you can see the cpu loads are all over the place.

I wonder if it has something to do with only having one GPU?

Hi grimm could you try the "top" command in a console?

Cheers mib
