Thanks, kubo. :)

I like this statue also (Buddha is a hilarious character, anyway). Again, props to the original author who sculpted it.
I think I'll adopt it as my material testing platform, from now on.

I've decided to post 2 more images with improved shaders and make my final entry to the competition. I've also changed the mood of the pictures and for me they look much better now. Hope you like them too :)

Credits are similar to the ones from my previous post. I've also reposted one of the previous pictures to keep my final entry in one piece, sorry for the mess.

Hi All,

Great job lechu... I guess this is the flower page!

This is my second entry in the competition. I had been playing around with modeling flowers and decided to see how well I could convey the delicate aesthetic of an orchid using Octane. I modeled the scene in Rhino and made the materials in Octane. I had forgotten to take the screen shot from Octane before upgrading to the latest version. When I opened the ocs file again the shaders were gone... so you get an all white version in that image. All textures are my own work and there was no post processing. The model was around 324k polys which also allowed me to make some pretty huge renders!

Thanks,
Brij

Here is fist of my entries (second one is coming soon).
Technical details: 544712 triangles, rendertime 5-7 h (that time is needed for average human to sleep :)). No post processing or color correction - render as it is :)
Inspiration: Some time ago we did few effects for documenal film about Vladimir K. Zworykin (He was a Russian-American inventor, engineer, and pioneer of television technology) and this scene was used as background for presenter. It shows inside of iconoscope (early television camera tube). Scene doesn't pretend for any historical accuracy (wrong radio components for that period of time, there aren't holes for elements in plate etc :)) and it's been done for visual purpose only. Main goal of this render is testing of Octane render in hard conditions - lots of complex emitters inside the glass, lots of glossy reflectors and elements, dof. Eventually, I'm very satisfied with results - I couldn't stop myself from taking pictires - that's real "octane magic". Thank you, guys :)
Big thanks to Vladimir Shelest for initial modeling and texturing. I did some remodeling, additional texturing, materials and rendering.
I recommend you to watch pictures at full screen (on white browser background they look too dark and over contrast)

Hey Folks, this is a gain a ketzalkoatl render, now with tlahtoani character, this is a character of a shortfilm i'm doing. i was wondering to post a "el santo" fighter figure, but i didnt have the time to finish it, so i diceded to do de best i can with what i have.

i really wanted to use blender 2.5 but it doesnt export the feathers. so i have to back to 2.49b again with Octane 2.3v5 because im using linux and is not available 2.4 for linux yet.
