I'm waiting for the next Mac Pro to and really hope it will have the latest nVidia cards as option.
I have suggested.... or rather threatened Apple that if they don't shape up in the graphic card area users will choose other solutions.
I told them that it doesn't feel very Pro to have a new computer with 1 year old weak card and no option to get a newer more powerful card when it's available.
I love Mac and don't want to go back to windows again, but as customers i think we have to put some pressure on Apple and demand that they keep the hardware up to level of what's available out there.
Go to this link and tell them you want new nVidia cards in the next model, and also to be able to put in a new regular card in a 1-3 year old Pro, and not have to be stuck with a overpriced special edition from Apple store.

Hopefully if more ask for it, maybe things will change

Man, almost 2 years since my post and still no decent CUDA cards for the Mac. At least officially. Has anyone used any of these cards? http://macvidcards.com/2011/29/fermi-ca ... e-mac-pro/
i work on mac with standard nvidia pc cards since 10.6.8 but it was necessary a bit of hack for make them works in os x.
from 10.7.2 and beyond nvidia pc cards work out of the box with no hack needed, just install the newest driver for the gtx 285.
i have a 560ti inside my mac pro and i can add a 460 together with an external psu, when i need more power
i suppose that also the kepler cards works smoothly, i'm thinking at a couple of 670 4gb for the future
ciao beppe
