Hi there,

with C4D Octane 300 Objects with 14 Mio Triangles and 5Gig VRam was never a problem to render.
But with Blender Octane I cannot get out any rendering even with 8Gig OoC.
Have no Refractions in the scene and also low settings do not help.

Maybe someone have any tips for me how to handle that in Blender Octane?
(latest 31.9 und Blender 5.1.1 2x 4090)

thanks

Hi Mike, could you please share the problematic scene with us so we can investigate? A single RTX4090 with24 gigabytes of VRAM should normally handle 14 million triangles (and more!), so the polycount alone may not be the issue. Are you using a large number of high-resolution textures? Those can eat up a significant amount of VRAM and may be the actual bottleneck. Also, you could try lowering the Parallel Samples value; Octane allocates memory for parallel samples before rendering starts, so reducing this setting can significantly decrease initial VRAM usage.

Hi Lino,

thanks for reply!

Well, the problem is for sure the VRam Amout.

When I unpacked the resources via "external Data" I only then saw, that
lots of objects using large textures. So I resized most of them and this seams to help.
As descriped in my other post, I cannot get a proper info about the total amout of the scene.
Do I miss here something?
I`m still learning Blender coming from C4D

One crucial recommendation: always unpack your textures when working with OctaneRender for Blender!
