Why is solo mode (D) so broken?

It's been like this for multiple versions, but trying to solo a node with certain composite materials is impossible as the moment you press D, it switches back off.

It seems to work fine on normal materials, but completely failed with multiple sub=-materials in composites. Is there a fix?

Similarly, compare seems to be broken in 2026.2, too. A is always the image, and B is always just a black screen

Hi,

Yes, Solo mode is limited with Composite materials, it works only with Sub-Materials, showing the single material in Live View:

About A/B compare, it is working as expected here in version 2026.2-v1.9.0:

Currently working with a composite material and soloing a simple float texture in the roughness slot crashes c4d completely. Is this a new limitation? I can't remeber running in such a problem before...
Is there a fix in the works? Right now, that's a major dealbreaker, especially for such a well established engine.
