hi there,
love the program. mind blowing.
I have a couple of questions...
1. from Reading the forum, I can see that, via rib export, octane will support instances - is this both geometry and texture instances?
2. I was under the impression that the commercial version was due around now, but I see conflicting posts on this - any hint on d-day for the commercial version?
thank you.

I guess you will have to define 'commercial'. The beta program will begin in a short while. The full 1.0 release will happen after the beta program is complete. I don't believe there is any timeframe for that to occur yet.

I guess I meant a save/load version with rib facilities and animation options - is that due to happen around now - or am I mistaken?
We are still in FebruaryOctane Render will be available for purchase early February 2010 in a beta program

You just need to wait a little bit more, If you don't know what to do you can make stills images already

thanks for the reply.
Regarding still images - I am aware of the "print screen" hack. I am interested in testing animation in a potential production environment - also the lack of save/load makes refinement awkward as the software takes the scene with it on exit.
As such I am waiting until a save/load version with animation is released before I begin testing.
thx, James.

For save/load only commercial version will support itAs such I am waiting until a save/load version with animation is released before I begin testing
Beta will support animation in a RIB pipeline
There's probably gonna be a demo like 0.9 before the commercial beta

In what type of production do you work ? If you use Octane in production maybe you could post a little review with pro and cons
Based on the production type you work in, its always usefull to have feedback from group of users, specially from production

Hi,
The first commercial beta's will be available in 1-2 weeks.
We've hit some delays with stability issues with our linux port,
which are now resolved, and this has set us back 1-2 weeks.
