Hi guys,

I know many have (not) expected the rumors/speculation of a 3GB (3072MB) GTX 480/580 to actually come true. Well we can safely forget 480 as the 580 is taking over. And then, this is as close as it gets:

Palit Announces GTX 580 3GB Graphics for Gamers :!:

This is not only great for Octane Render but also for rendering extremely complex architecture models in real-time with TwinMotion or Lumion. Especially with SLI, or Tri-SLI or Quad- ... ok take me back to earth please

I've sent an email asking how much it's going to cost. I don't know how much an additional 1.5GB RAM will cost (i mean, outside the Quadro/Tesla world...), but as the 1.5GB version is already ~$500 then i think it could reach >$600, no? Still it's going to be much cheaper than a Tesla C2050 (faster too). (Oops, shouldn't say that.. cos potential Tesla buyers are more likely to get these in bulks and empty the stock sooner than the rest of us! Please spare us some :D)

EDIT:  Gainward (which is owned by Palit btw) has also announced 3GB GTX 580...

That's what we were waiting for:) yeah! Really like innovation from Palit/Gainward. They were one of few vendors who released 2gb version of gtx460 and now this! Sweet. :)
