Hi all,

We are happy to bring you OctaneRender 2025.4. This version brings support for macOS 26 (Tahoe) as well as various fixes. Thanks again to all those who sent us feedback and continuously help us to improve Octane.

Important notes:
  • The minimum NVIDIA driver version required is R528 (R572 for GeForce RTX50 Series).
  • The minimum version of macOS required is 14.5. It will soon be raised to 15.
Changes since 2025.3

Improvements
  • Added support for macOS 26 (Tahoe).
Resolved issues
  • Fixed application crash when trying to use an OSL baking camera on macOS (currently unsupported).
  • Fixed issue that made it possible for a volume's velocity channel loaded via a plugin or Lua script to not get exported or be marked as inactive in the VDB import preferences dialog after saving the scene.
  • Fixed bug causing incorrect clipping priority to be assigned when disabling and re-enabling clipping material when intersection material was assigned.
  • Fixed issues preventing the correct selection of the velocity grids in the VDB import preferences dialog in certain circumstances.
  • Fixed issue with SSO sign-in which could potentially lead to a deadlock.
  • Fixed occasional render failures on macOS.

Is there any guidance on when the plugins will become available? Specifically, for Houdini on MacOS.

Is there a way to set the compressed textures to another folder? For example a server? Now all our render computers have to compress the texture separately. Some take over 35 minits to complete.

I have another request. With lightpasses, you can set whether a light affects an object or not, it’s a boolean operation. In Redshift, however, this option is a float value, allowing you to control how much a light influences a specific object It would be great to have this feature available as well.
