Octane license in use, when not it use!

Hi,

I have this reccurring problem - I use both laptop in the house and a workstation at work, and both of them I use with my single license. I have an issue though - If I let the laptop go to sleep while 3ds max was on, it will steal the license, and I can't use octane anywhere until I open the laptop and close 3DS max. It senseless to say that a license is in use while the laptop is sleeping.

Furthermore - and this is a BIG ONE:

I use max 2025, and the only way to 'unfreeze' the viewport is to open octane VP via the OM guardian - however if octane isn't activated this results in a permanent freeze, without the ability to save my work. So I am asking, at least for max 2025+ users, please add the option to ignore 'license in use' BUG - it is a bug, since it is NOT in use, and allow me to work standard max things, I don't even need octane for this.

Is this something that is possible? I've used both of my 'unlock license' on the website and I am no longer able to deactivate it on my laptop until I come back home.

Hi Jani,
Just to understand better, when you say you're not using Octane but 3ds Max still freezes, do you mean that even if the Octane viewport isn't open, 3ds Max still locks up?

The only sure way to unlock 3ds max is to open octane VP, however, if my license is stolen by my laptop, and the laptop isn't where I am(at work), then octane will spit out an error where it says that license isn't activated on the work computer. This will, in turn cause a permanent freeze, where I cannot do anything but kill 3ds max via task manager, thus losing any unsaved work.

So the question really is, can we, as 3ds Max octane users, at least until the issue with vieport freezing, have the ability to open octane VP while the license sits activated on a different machine? - Mind you, it is activated on a computer that's not in use(as the laptop was sleeping at the time).

Who could possibly steal your Octane Render license, and why?
This is probably the most unlikely kind of license theft imaginable.
