Hi team,

today Mac OS 26 will be officially released.

Is the latest Octane Render tested and ready on Mac OS 26 (on Apple Silicon)?

Thanks in advance!

I’ve also tried running Octane X (integrated in Cinema 4D, version 2025.3) on macOS 26 with an M3 Max, and I can confirm the same issue: Octane doesn’t recognize any GPU at all. Everything was working fine before the OS update, so this looks like a compatibility problem with the new macOS drivers/Metal API.

@OTOY team – could you please confirm if official support for macOS 26 is planned soon, and if a patched build is already in the works? At the moment Octane is basically unusable on Apple Silicon after the upgrade.

Thanks!

Hey David, when you say “the same procedure every year”, what do you mean exactly? Just waiting for OTOY to catch up after the macOS release, or do you usually follow some specific workaround in the meantime?

I mean the annual tradition of a new major OS release that seems to be completely untested with production software.
It is no only us 3D guys. Some audio people also suffer from completely broken workflows as far as I know.

Yeah, totally agree, Apple just doesn’t seem to care. Absurd! Fingers crossed OTOY pushes a fix soon.

Hi,

We need to wait for new OctaneRender Standalone version 2025.4 to have the support for new macOS 26 Tahoe.

As soon as the new Standalone version will be released, plugin versions will follow.

ciao,
Beppe
