One thing I came across that I wanted to share with you.

I am working on an MBP and a Windows RTX5090 Workstation that acts most of the as a rendering node.

The MBP typically is connected via Wifi and that works reasonably well. I tried to work over Ethernet now because I have a 10GBE Thunderbold Device but struggled to get it working because id did not find the render node over Ethernet then.

Even if the Render node is found and it looks like it is connected it does not work. Make sure you don´t see No Net GPU in the Viewport Render Overlay. Make sure to see something Like Net GPU: 1/1 ( in my case with one Render Node)

The "trick" is to restart the Octane server when switching the Network Interface and then everything works as expected and the Render Node will be found.

PS:
When working over 10GBE Ethernet unticking the Kernel Option "Minimize Net Traffic" in the Kernel Node Editor makes sense.
