regarding spam in octane forums

Hey,

does someone else here also feels so extremely bothered by recent spam replies/threads?

Maybe it´s just because I´m german and prefer keeping strict discipline
No, seriously, I prefer browsing the octane forums only by viewing the active topics - and those spammers just steal my time.

Pills, cellphones, etc, I have the feeling we got overrun by spambots.

So dear octane team, how about adding a captcha to the forum`s registration?

But I agree, spam is annoying and should be fought. Viagra threads also looks bad on a forum of a serious business. A captcha and maybe a moderated first post, would nuke it from orbit

I don't think you can actually do much, most spammers who spam our forum are actual paid people from 3rd world countries,
any captcha won't work, and moderating first posts would create a serious administrative overhead.

Maybe we just need some way of reporting a thread as being spam. Maybe I've missed it but there doesn't appear to be any reporting options for threads?

actually I think you guys do a great job of keeping the spam bots under, but there is a small window where neither offices are around when they show up for a while. Just wait for it, they get found and killed.

Looks like the Spammers are back in town right now. Besterlj is filling the forums with spam.

Looks like we now have captcha but it is not working. I simply cannot log into the forum. Luckily my iPhone was still logged in which is where I am posting this.

What can I do to get logged in?

phew! finally got logged in. I hadn't read the line about the entry being case insensitive which apprently means that you have to enter in lower case (?) As soon as I did this, i was allowed in. The dozen or so previous attempts I had entered everything in uppercase.
