Hi, there is a + sign on the shelf, click it then go to Shelves/Octane
The issue is that it doesn't appear anymore in the shelf

Try see if you still have the octane shelf file under the plugin's folder called 'toolbar'.
If it is there, try delete the default shelf under your Documents/houdini20.5/toolbar and restart Houdini and see if that helps.

The octane.shelf is in the plugin's folder, I've deleted the default.shelf but that didn't help, octane is still missing in the shelf

Ok I see - I have found what is happening. When you delete the shelf, it updates the shelf file itself.
Replace the octane.shelf in the plugin folder with the original from the zip of the plugin download.

The rabbit hole goes deeper than that.
I thought it should be a quick fix too, so to test I deleted my Octane toolbar...
I manually added a freshly unzipped octane.shelf file, but nothing. I spent an hour going through the various xml files in the 20.5 directory, and comparing them with the installation on my other computer. In the end I had to delete the entire 20.5 preferences folder and let Houdini create a new default one on restart, then add the octane path to the fresh houdini.env to get the octane toolbar to show up again. (Octane still worked the whole time, but no toolbar)

Probably replacing the octane.shelf with an original and deleting the octane.pref maybe. I'd have to look into it further but this is a "Houdini" thing itself imo. Backup the packages/env etc and deleting the Documents directory of 20.5 gets is the quickest.jandress wrote:The rabbit hole goes deeper than that.
