I just downloaded the Octane demo and it appears to be a very interesting program. I think it will be cooler when I can get it to actually render on my machine.

I"m using windows 7 64bit
Intel Core i7 920@ 2.67 ghz 2.67ghz
4gb Ram
With a Nvidia Geforce gts 250

I have tried it with both Cuda toolkits installed version 3.0 and 3.2

So what happens is when I Open up octane it appears to run ok but then when I import a mesh. It can be any mesh I've even tried just a box exported as tri's. Octane will import it but as soon as I interact with the interface it crashes. any suggestions?

HI,

you don't have to install any CUDA toolkits. The latest nVidia (release) driver (at the moment 260.99) should be sufficient. What is the amount of memory on your graphics card? It sounds as if you are running out of video memory.

Cheers,
Marcus

Hi, try the demo suite files. Sometimes the exporter settings produce wrong obj´s and octane crash.

Exporter settings are the manual:

Sorry, I missed your last sentence of your first mail. A box should be no problem anyway... I sent you a PM. I would like to have a look at the exported box scene.

Cheers,
Marcus

Okay so I downwloaded the latest Nvidia drivers for my card and downloaded the samples. after a reboot It still crashes when I try and interact with the interface after the object is loaded. I tried both versions of the chess board and the benchmark file.

Sorry, I had a look at your scene and it should work and the demo scenes of course, too. -> I reckon the demo version doesn't work with your graphics card for some reason I really don't know. Maybe someone who has a GTS 250, can try the demo with the card and let us know, if it works or not.

Cheers,
Marcus
