Hi im doing a project and they send me a pine model.
Some of the pine needles render as this blurry alpha border.
is there a way to fix it in octane settings?
chocking the matte out will eat out small branches and detail too
attached a picture of the problem
alpha matte problem
1. Is Keep Environment enabled?
2. If not (ideally), proper "alpha" (associated via EXR not PNG, or at least TIFF) will yield expected results.
3. Worth double-checking if, in the kernel settings, Alpha Shadow is enabled (default).

It was the keep enviroment. why does it do that to alpha if its left on?
I'll attatch a picture if some one is searching for this problem. Tree on the left is keep enviroment off and right one is on.
The link in the previous message contains answer to your question, it is a forum thread of a nearly identical case.
Is there any reason to check this option in the first place?
