this is my first competitions what i finished and posted before dead line

all is created in cinema 4d and rendered with octane
i start trying, researching octane before one month or two and its amazing, first of all render time

scene is about 2 mil polygons and render time is about 3 min
size of image is 1024x512 (i have demo ver currently)
i just added ink stroke in ps for better detail enhanced and becouse i like mix of cg and handwrite look

i wish all good luck in this competition and 2011.

My second entry for this competition..
AMURO RAY..
An omage to Amuro Ray and his mecha..
Quidam, Zbrush, C4D and the stunning Octane Render..
The mecha is modelled in C4D. I work on this one, one year ago for a short animation.. but only experimental..
I modified an existing free low poly model and changed some parts such as hard connection between the pelvis and thighs, increased the resolution of certain geometries for a best rendering (because triangulated low poly) and removed some parts which made it difficult to animation.
I have used Subdivide surfaces ( I start from a cube..) and Poly Tool for some parts..
I show a little work in progress for knowledge of many users that want to know how a scene is make.. and for people tha no havent't knowledge of modelling this is always interesting..
Note..the "Green Cars Armour" are not my models..but free models offer from 3D Artist Magazine DVD.. So thanks to the magazine!
I textured before all in C4D (the plugin wotks great!) In Octane I have corrected only speculars and reflections..
I was not satisfated of the firsts final render so I have changed the illumination type.. with Direct Lighting (this project not work with Path Tracing..crash after 5 minutes..) and an HDRI map.. The others with Sun Lighting illumination.. I have toggled filters and noise reduction and selected the samples to 3000
The PC system is not my.. I used a PC of my coach in the studio..a I7 8gb with a NVIDIA GTX 480 and 1.5gb! because I have a GT 8600 with 249mb!!!! not quite good for these scenes of 2.407.204 triangles :( But I hope in future of change my system...
I hope that It like to you..

This is made from myself in C4D..it's similar to Exia type.. with subdivide modelling surface (start from a cube) and poly tool modelling.. After work with Extrude Inner and more subdivisions.. Nothing Zbrush for this.. It's simple hard modelling surface.. is more hard modelling organics!
You have a nice day

Why are You not telling the truth !!!?? change the description please.... ...becouse model is not yours and I have a very strong proof for that.... ...please dont make me to show it to everybody. Its not modeling contest ( but rendering ) so You can use free models....just write it... I dont get it why You lied. :( Sorry to all for this , but I think borrowing is good , and stealing is not.... ....show some respect to person who really did that :|
But.. I'm a 3D modeller.. I make this for work.. i begin in 1996! I make architectural interior and exterior.. I make characters organics..and don't organics.. wich the problem
of modelling a mecha robot?.. I make this one year ago for a my animation short experiment..
Have you got skills of Sub-Division surface modelling..Nurbs, Hyper Nurbs..Poly modelling or others? I have this knowledge..
You tell me " Its not modeling contest ( but rendering ) so You can use free models...." OK..but I can use my models too!!!
Regards..

Hi, my name is Taehee Lee.
I am a general artist in usa now.
Last year, in my company, let me try to render cars in renderman. That time was aweful. If I get the image from renderman, I need a very good telented artist. but not many in industry. However, octane was really different. It is very useful. The quality is awesome. If octane will give some renderpass, I think it will be used in industry.

First, technical details.
- Rendered in demo version, then I can't change the resolution.
- Quad polys are 220596.
- Render time is around 2 hours. First 30 minutes were enough to get the full image, but if I kill some hotspots, I needed some more time.
- Car and debris modeling in maya, and cracks and demolition in zbrush, and textures in bodypaint and photoshop. On car, there are color, spec, and bump textures. Render is finished in octane render.

Second, I found a desert image from google. I cleaned out some images from it. Then I put my old and burned car, some rocks and debris. I would like to describe an old and naturally deserted environment. It is still nature but with some artificial things.

I updated one more image. That is hdri rendering. The result is very different from daylight system. It looks like paint. But I guess that daylight render is like more realistic.
